Amelie's school is doing R U OK day today and it has me reflecting. After the year our family has had, I understand more than ever just how important it is to check in on the people we love and make sure they’re truly okay.

Sometimes “I’m fine” doesn’t actually mean we’re fine.

I know how hard it can be to talk about our mental health, to admit when we’re struggling, or even to open up to the people closest to us. Sometimes we don’t know how to put what we’re feeling into words, and sometimes we’re scared of being a burden.

So today, I just want to remind every single one of my beautiful clients that I’m always here. 💛

Your appointments are so much more than hair and makeup to me. I hope my little studio can always feel like a safe space — a place where you can talk, laugh, cry, vent, unload, or simply sit quietly if that’s what you need.

Just a little Amelie update because I know so many of you are following along on my girls journey and I appreciate you all so much! 💗

Yesterday’s colonoscopy and endoscopy went off without a hitch, which was such a relief.

Poor Amelie and I have both been left with so much trauma from the preparation for this procedure, but she was SO incredibly strong through it all. I honestly can’t put into words how proud I am of my girl. 🥹❤️

Amelie has a lot of anxiety going into theatre, which is completely understandable after everything she has been through. Getting her off to sleep and getting the mask on her has become increasingly difficult, and having to hold her down while she fights it absolutely destroys me every single time. 😭💔

Yesterday was particularly hard because she had a really difficult time waking up from the anaesthetic. Her heart rate was sitting quite low, so they weren’t comfortable getting her out of PACU until she was more awake and her heart rate picked back up above 65. It took quite some time, and I was so scared watching her. But, like she always does, my brave girl eventually got there. ❤️

We were able to see her doctors afterwards and they said her scopes looked normal — which is actually incredible news. 🙏🏼

This makes it much less likely that the tummy issues are from LCH or anything else nasty, although we still need to wait for the biopsy results to know for sure. So for now, we are cautiously taking that as a really positive sign. 🤞🏼

Thankfully, she is recovering really well now. She’s eating and drinking normally again and is just feeling a little off today, which is completely understandable after everything her little body has been through. 💗

We are just so grateful that yesterday went as smoothly as it could have and that, for the first time in a while, we have something positive to hold onto while we wait for those biopsy results. 🙏🏼

Yesterday was hard. 💔

Last week we went to see oncology because I had become increasingly concerned about Amelie. She has been constantly complaining of tummy pain, she’s incredibly lethargic, pale, has dark circles under her eyes and, most noticeably, she just hasn’t been our usual happy, bubbly Amie. 😔

After some tests, we received her results yesterday and there are now concerns that this horrible disease may have spread to her GI tract. 😭

We are urgently waiting for an appointment with gastroenterology at PCH for a scope to investigate further, and honestly, my heart cannot take much more.

I feel so incredibly sad for her. She has already been through more than any little girl should ever have to endure, and yet there are still more tests, more procedures and more things ahead of her that absolutely petrify her. The thought of having to watch her go through it all again — and having to hold her down and force her to do things that scare her — breaks something inside me. 💔

I am desperately holding onto hope that this is not her LCH spreading. It is apparently very rare for LCH that begins in the bone to spread to organs and become multisystem disease, so I am praying with everything I have that there is something else going on in her tummy.

For now, we don't have answers. We have more tests, more waiting and a whole lot of fear.

If anyone could spare some extra prayers for our beautiful Amelie, our family would be forever grateful. 🙏💜

Please let this be something else. Please let our girl catch a break. 😭🙏

What a perfect day it was to celebrate 35. 🤍✨

This last year has been, by far, the hardest year of my life. It has shown me unimaginable heartache, uncertainty and fear that I could never even put into words.

But somehow, amongst all of that darkness, there has also been so much light.

This year has brought me closer to some incredible new people who have helped carry me through the darkest moments and been such a beautiful light for all of us. It has given me a profound appreciation for the little things in life — the moments that we once took for granted.

It has brought me closer to my family and reminded me that, at the end of the day, memories are the things we leave with each other that truly mean something in this world.

Most of all, it has shown me the strength of love. The love I have for my family, the love surrounding my girls, and the importance of allowing myself to let love in from the kindness and generosity of the people around me.

Out of the darkness of this past year has come so much light, so much gratitude and so much perspective.

So here’s to 35. 🥂
To making memories, soaking up the little moments, loving harder and hopefully a much calmer season of life ahead. 🙏🏼🧘🏼‍♀️✨

I get asked almost every day what a Soft Glam makeup look entails, so I thought I'd share a little side-by-side of my bare face compared to one of my signature Soft Glam looks.

As you can see, there's a huge difference between my completely makeup-free face and the finished look.
My complexion is even, my acne is covered, my brows are fuller, my lashes are longer and lifted, my features are softly sculpted, and I just look like a more polished version of myself.

Today's orthopaedic appointment brought news I honestly never expected to hear so soon... Amelie is officially starting the weaning process out of her neck collar. 🥹😭

Her vertebra plana is still there, but the important part is that she is healing. Her spinal surgeon is really happy with how stable her spine is, and unless anything changes, we'll continue monitoring everything with her next MRI in October.

I don't think I can put into words the relief I feel right now. After everything we've been through over the past few months, it finally feels like we're moving towards getting our happy, active little Amie back. Hopefully by summer she'll be able to enjoy all the things she has missed so much. ❤️

For now, we'll be taking it slowly. She'll have short periods without her collar to help rebuild the muscles in her neck, and she's been given the exciting news that she can start swimming again! 🏊‍♀️

Every appointment has felt so heavy with uncertainty, so today felt like we could finally breathe a little. I am beyond grateful that her body is healing, that the medication is working, and that she is getting better. There is still a journey ahead, but today gave us so much hope.

Thank you to everyone who has kept Amelie in your thoughts, sent messages, prayed for her, and supported our family through all of this. We feel so incredibly lucky. ❤️🙏

Today was the appointment I have been absolutely dreading... the day we found out whether Amelie's tumour was progressing or if her medication was actually working.

I am so incredibly relieved and happy to say that her tumour is SHRINKING. 🥹💜

Not only that, but the soft tissue swelling has reduced significantly, and her MRI also shows that her C4 vertebra is finally showing the very first signs of healing. Hearing those words felt surreal.

I honestly don't know how to describe how I feel today. I'm overjoyed, relieved, grateful... but at the same time, still so scared of what the future may hold. Living with this diagnosis means celebrating the wins while knowing there are still so many unknowns.

We still have our appointment with orthopaedics to determine whether Amelie will need spinal fusion surgery due to the severe damage to her C4, so we're not out of the woods just yet.

We were also reminded that because Amelie tested positive for the BRAF gene mutation, there is a higher chance that the disease can reactivate or appear elsewhere once treatment finishes. That's something we'll continue to face when the time comes.

But today... I'm choosing to focus on this incredible win.
Her medication is working. Her tumour is shrinking. Her bone is beginning to heal. And most importantly, my beautiful girl is pain-free and smiling again.

For the first time in a long time, life feels just that little bit brighter. 🥹😭💜

I haven't done an update on Amelie in a while because, to be honest, things have been tough, and I've been struggling massively this past week with the reality of what she's facing. 😭

We desperately needed her MRI done last week before her orthopaedic and oncology follow-up appointments, which were supposed to be this week. The scan was meant to tell us whether her tumour has progressed, and after hearing her oncologist express concerns about her spinal cord and nerves, I have been absolutely terrified.

Unfortunately, Amelie was so distressed that she wouldn't allow them to place the cannula needed for the contrast MRI. We spent the entire day fasting her, trying to prepare her, watching her become completely hysterical and overwhelmed, only to be told that the scan couldn't go ahead and we had to leave.

Knowing how serious her condition is, while also seeing how deeply all of this is affecting her mental health, is breaking me. She just wants to be a kid. She wants to run, play, climb, and go back to the life she was living before all of this happened. She doesn't want to spend her weeks terrified of more tests, more scans, and more hospital appointments.

Watching your child suffer is something I can't even put into words. It is absolutely soul-destroying.

I'm scared for her every single day. I'm scared about what tomorrow looks like, and I'm scared for her future. Lately, I have felt completely overwhelmed, heartbroken, and devastated for her.

But no matter how hard this gets, I will never stop hoping, never stop fighting for her, and never stop praying that one day this will all be behind her and she can simply be the happy, carefree little girl she deserves to be. 😭💔

We are finally getting around to celebrating Amelie's 8th birthday between all her hospital appointments ❤️

Her birthday was back in March, right in the middle of when she was at her sickest and spending so much time in hospital. At the time, celebrating was put on hold on as we tried to navigate a world that had suddenly been turned completely upside down.

It feels so special to finally give her the birthday celebration we had planned before everything changed. Seeing her smile and enjoy being a kid again is something I don't think I'll ever take for granted.

I know from the outside it may seem like Amelie is doing so much better, and thankfully her pain is much more manageable than it was. But the reality is we still don't know exactly what is happening with her disease. At this stage, it's very possible that the improvement we're seeing is largely due to the medication helping control her symptoms.

Her recent X-rays haven't shown a great deal of improvement in the bone itself, and now we're anxiously waiting for her MRI this Friday. This scan will give us a much clearer picture of whether her tumour is shrinking or whether we need to start having serious discussions about moving forward with chemotherapy.

One of the hardest parts right now isn't even the waiting—it's watching the fear this is causing her. Amelie has severe medical anxiety, and the thought of having a cannula inserted for her MRI contrast has caused her so much distress. The oncology team at PCH have been absolutely incredible, working with us to come up with a plan to make the experience as manageable as possible for her.

As a parent, there is a kind of heartbreak that comes with knowing you have to ask your child to do something they are genuinely terrified of, while also knowing it's necessary. It's impossible to put that feeling into words. 💔

If you pray, please keep Amelie in your prayers this week. We are desperately hoping for positive MRI results and signs that her tumour is responding. We would be so grateful for every prayer, positive thought, and bit of hope sent her way. 😭🙏💜

The oncology team at PCH have been absolutely incredible, working with us to come up with a plan to make the experience as manageable as possible for her.

As a parent, there is a kind of heartbreak that comes with knowing you have to ask your child to do something they are genuinely terrified of, while also knowing it's necessary. It's impossible to put that feeling into words. 💔

If you pray, please keep Amelie in your prayers this week. We are desperately hoping for positive MRI results and signs that her tumour is responding. We would be so grateful for every prayer, positive thought, and bit of hope sent her way. 😭🙏💜
